The Associate Media Director will report to the Media Director and primarily focus on local strategic planning for the Lexus Western Area to include Broadcast, Digital, Print, OOH.  The job also requires some travel within the West and presenting to clients. 

Key responsibilities will include leading annual planning for 23 markets. Working closely with Zenith to ensure the proper execution and management of all broadcast investment.  Managing/responding to on-going client requests, market level reporting and overall education of the local team and clients.  Utilizing all applications of research including Nielsen, Com Score and Ad Relevance.  Partner with the Western Account team.

The ideal candidate must have experience in local media planning; specifically spot broadcast, digital and search. Experience with streaming video, programmatic digital and social a plus. They will be proactive market experts, always looking ahead to anticipate client reactions and the marketplace.  Expected to investigate and develop create media opportunities that will enhance the overall media plan.  They must possess excellent presentation skills (written and verbal) and experience managing others.


Day to Day:

  • Manage, train and oversee the regional LDA media team for the Western Area and the 23 LDA groups it represents.
  • Day to day responsibility for preparation and maintenance of market and area plans and projects.  AMD should take the lead in establishing way to make these projects more insightful, time efficient and creative.
  • Ensuring accurate financial accountability and maintenance on media plans at all times.
  • Strengthen daily communication with the field teams and Zenith buyers and maintain positive relationships.
  • Develop POVs on a variety of media opportunities and provide guidance to Assistants and Planners.
  • Maintain positive relationships with the Media community.
  • Take ownership of LDA projects and ensure accurate, insightful, creative wand timely results.  This will include setting goals, due dates, mentoring and managing a team.
  • Development of client presentations for various dealer meetings using power point or other presentation tools.
  • In depth understanding of LDA policies, strategies and best practice.
  • Inspire and encourage CORE behavior.


Experience: A minimum of 8-10 years of agency experience.  Currently working as a Supervisor or in an Associate Director role.  Automotive/retail experience preferred. 

Education: Bachelor’s degree

Skills and Abilities: Working knowledge of OX/Media Ocean, Media Tools, CMR, IMS, Excel and Power Point.  This person must be highly organized, with excellent communication skills as well as an aptitude for accuracy and detail.  Must be able to juggle multiple projects and work with various field contacts while balancing client demands and prioritizing projects. Should have confidence in their media knowledge as well as expressing confidence when working with the field staff, Lexus Area and dealer contacts.

Must possess and outgoing personality and be willing to contribute new ideas and help build a cohesive team.

Work Direction Over Others: Must provide proper direction of projects to AMP & MP.  The delegation process must include specifics, deadlines and daily follow up (if needed).  Prioritize projects for AMP & MP to ensure efficiency of workflow.  Setting appropriate timelines and reviewing work for accuracy is critical.

Supervision Received:  The Associate Media Director has access to the Media Director and the Group Media Director on the daily basis.  The AMD is expected to keep the MD/GMD and Executive Media Director informed of any ‘big picture” issues that could affect the client’s business/relationships.

Impact:  The AMD’s contributions greatly impact the client’s perception of Team One overall and the department’s success is delivering projects in a timely and accurate manner.  This is especially true of the Lexus dealer’s perception, as the AMD is seen as a lead Media person for the business.  The AMD has a significant voice within the agency and can help challenge and lead other Department Heads to work more effectively for our client.  The AMD has great impact on “Best practices” for how business is accomplished.
